Narcissistic abuse recovery free resources

While I specialise in offering narcissistic abuse therapy, I understand not everyone who has experienced narcissistic abuse can afford to pay for private therapy. These resources can help you to support yourself, whether or not you are one of my clients.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Playlist
Music can be an important part of narcissistic abuse recovery for many people people. When we experience trauma it is stored in our body, so it’s not just the music that helps, it’s that it can get you moving your body.

I’ve compiled a playlist of songs that might inspire you. So, have a listen to these tracks while you dance, walk, run, workout or just do some cleaning – whatever works for you! If you think other tracks should be included, let me know!

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Book List
I regularly recommend these books to my clients. They are all very credible, written by experts and can help you to understand how you can support your own recovery from narcissistic abuse.

The body keeps the Score
An excellent book, though it is very scientific and can be harrowing and difficult at times. However if you want to understand how trauma impacts the brain and why the symptoms you are experiencing are very normal, this will help. It also guides you with the practical, evidence-based ways you can support your own healing.

Attached
This is an excellent overview of attachment, which is an important part of the jigsaw when understanding recovery from narcissistic abuse. Written by a psychiatrist and a psychologist, it has a particular focus on romantic relationships, so it’s of most use if you have been romantically involved with a narcissist, however the principles still apply, whatever the relationship.

Wellbeing Wonder #5: Unplug

This is a little bit of a cheat of a wellbeing wonder post, because the subject of it means that it will be short – but sweet, I hope.

Putting your tech away doesn’t need a grand gesture or to be for a long time (but the longer the better probably), but just connecting with the world and the people around us and focussing mindfully on where we are, rather than the information superhighway, does us all good sometimes.

So if you are reading this (and thank you!), put down your device, go and give someone a hug (anyone really but ideally someone you know) and have some tech-free time. It’s very good for your wellbeing.

Happy weekend!
