I offer online counselling to clients throughout the UK, enabling you to get the effective, high quality support you need, when you need it.
Online counselling can be a flexible, convenient and private way to access therapy and deal with your issues in the comfort of your own home and a very effective way to access effective, high quality therapeutic support when you need it.
Several research studies have found online counselling to be as effective as face-to-face therapy for a range of psychological issues and that good therapeutic relationships can be built online as well as in person.
Is online counselling effective?
Online counselling can be very effective for many people. It has been particularly helpful for UK clients during Covid-19, though many people prefer it anyway. My professional, busy clients are based all over the UK and find that online therapy is more convenient for them. You can easily fit online counselling around your work and family schedule, so it can make counselling easier to access and help to alleviate stress.
It can also be ideal for you if you are worried about becoming upset, are concerned about discussing intimate details, or are struggling with symptoms of trauma or sexual or narcissistic abuse and feel more comfortable speaking about these in your own safe, home surroundings.
However, online counselling isn’t for everyone and you may find it too impersonal, may simply be fed up with video calls after Covid, or know that you would prefer to travel to somewhere away from home or work. You may prefer to come for in-person therapy at my consulting rooms in Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Central Manchester.
What type of online counselling do you offer?
You can read more about me and my overall therapeutic approach here and you may find the FAQs helpful too. While online therapy can work well for most modalities, some therapies I offer are more suited to online work, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
What technology do I need for an online therapy session?
I run online counselling sessions using Zoom and I will send you a secure link before our first appointment. You will need to have a good internet connection and computer, tablet or mobile phone.
