Anxiety counselling can be very helpful for you if you are struggling with the debilitating symptoms of anxiety including palpitations, feelings of panic, agitation, sleeplessness and a racing mind. These can all interfere with your work and relationships and make it very difficult to enjoy your life.
While feeling anxious and worried sometimes is quite normal, it can become a problem when we are feeling anxious for an extended period of time, especially if our anxious thoughts and symptoms are getting worse or increasing.
The good news is that the right type of anxiety therapy can really help and sometimes can help quickly. I can help you to understand your anxiety, learn practical ways to manage the symptoms and to overcome it – for good.
Why not contact me today for an short, informal call to find out how I can help you beat anxiety and if I am the right therapist for you?
Can anxiety counselling help me?
Yes! Anxiety is a very treatable condition, so you don’t need to keep suffering. There are several evidence-based therapies that are proven to work to help people with anxiety. The most well-known is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). However, while CBT is used extensively in the NHS and can be very effective for some people, many of my clients come to me as they don’t feel it worked for them, or they simply would prefer to see a private therapist.
Many people have lived with anxiety for a long time and it can be very important for full recovery to get to the root of the problem and understand why you are struggling with anxiety, so you can fully overcome it.
Symptoms of anxiety can also be caused by underlying issues such as trauma, or being involved in an abusive relationship and therefore CBT is not always the most appropriate therapeutic approach. For example, Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) can help you understand why we are all ‘hard-wired’ to be anxious and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) teaches you how to relate differently to your anxious thoughts, feelings and behaviours, which is very helpful.
So, rather than a standardised treatment approach, I will carefully devise a personal treatment plan for you. This will help you to learn more about your anxiety, develop practical coping skills to manage anxious thoughts and feelings and overcome your symptoms so you can take back control and thrive.
